The Mercedes-Benz CL420, was a variant of the C140 CL-Class that was introduced for the 1997 model year. Production of the CL420 started in 1996, when Mercedes decided to spin off the S-Class Coupes into their own series known as the CL-Class. This series of luxury coupes were powered by Mercedes' M119 E42 engine, which was a 4.2L V8 that generated 279hp. The Mercedes-Benz CL420 model ended production in 1999.
