The Mercedes-Benz 300SL was a variant of the R107 SL-Class that was introduced for the 1985 model year. The 300 SL was one of the few R107 variants to not feature a V8 engine, instead this variant was powered by a 3.0L inline six engine that generated 187hp. This power was sent to the rear wheels via manual and automatic transmission options, reaching a top speed of 130mph. Production of the Mercedes-Benz 300SL lasted until 1989, although the model series would continue life in the next generation of SL-Class, as the R129 Mercedes-Benz 300SL.
