Unveiled for the 2010 model year, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was a series of high end grand tourers that were first available as gullwing coupes. The SLS AMG was launched featuring a coupe body style that featured upswinging gullwing doors meant to evoke the famed Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing. These cars were powered by Mercedes' M159 naturally aspirated V8 engine. This 6.2L unit generated 563hp and was mated to a seven speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission mounted in the rear for better weight distribution. Production of the SLS AMG Coupe ended in 2012, with the model being replaced by the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Coupe.
