Mercury Monterey S-55 - 5th Gen (1962 to 1963)

The Mercury S-55 was introduced as a performance-focused variant of the 5th Gen Mercury Monterey. These cars were only offered in a two door hardtop or two door convertible body style, with two V8 engine options. The smaller engine was a 390ci, while the larger offering was the 406ci. Depending on specification, these engines ranged from 300 to 405hp. Both manual or automatic transmissions were available. Production of the Mercury S-55 lasted until 1963, but the variant returned as part of the 6th Gen Monterey.
