MG B (1962 to 1981)

The MG B was a series of sports cars offered with few mechanical or styling changes over an 18 model year period. Introduced in 1962, the MGB was originally powered by a 1798cc version of the B-series engine found in the MG A. The B used a more modern uni-body construction rather than the traditional body-on-frame. Styling differences over the years were mostly restricted to front and rear bumpers, moving from shiny chrome bumpers in the early years to larger, heavier black rubber bumpers to comply with increasingly strict safety regulations. Three main variants of the MG B were built, the Roadster, GT, and GT V8. The GT V8 introduced V8 power for the MGB, and while the GT V8 was a factory creation, it lead to the aftermarket creation of many V8 Roadsters. Due to the popularity of the MG B, many examples were converted into Race Cars. Production of the MG B ended in 1981.
