MG Metro Turbo (1983 to 1989)

The MG Metro Turbo was a performance variant of the MG Metro that debuted in 1983. The Turbo was first shown at the 1982 Birmingham Motor Show, quoting an impressive 93hp and top speed of over 110mph. Besides the turbocharged engine and the sportier exhaust system, it also featured stiffer suspension, an improved crankshaft, alloy wheels, ventilated front disc brakes and a front spoiler. In visual terms, the new red carpets & seat belts became very popular, so did the boost pressure gauges on the dash. The Metro Turbo was the first step towards the famous 6R4 Group B rally car, and was in production until 1989.
