MG SV (2004 to 2005)

The MG SV was a limited production series of sports cars that were introduced for the 2004 model year. The SV was developed after MG had purchased Qvale, and decided to build a sports car on the Qvale Mangusta chassis. These cars were offered in a coupe body style, and were powered by a Ford V8 engines. The standard SV featured a 4.6L V8 while the more powerful SV-R was equipped with a 5.0L unit. The MG SV was developed during a time when MG was in serious financial difficulty, leading to many components being sourced from outside companies such as Ford and Fiat. Sales of the SV were much lower than anticipated, with only 82 examples built before the model was discontinued in 2005.
