Mitsubishi Motors is a Japanese automotive manufacturer that is part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, which traces its roots to 1884. The company had numerous interests in the pre-war era, and did not focus on mass produced cars until after WW2. As the company grew in a post-war world, models such as the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/mitsubishi/minica/">Minica</a> and <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/mitsubishi/galant/">Galant</a> established a solid reputation for the company, but it was Mitsubishi&#39;s off-road racing exploits that would endear it to motoring enthusiasts around the world. Mitsubishi actively participated in the World Rally Championship and Paris-Dakar Rally for a number of years, with the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/mitsubishi/lancer-evolution/">Lancer Evolution</a> winning multiple drivers and constructors championships and the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/mitsubishi/pajero/">Pajero</a> winning the Dakar a staggering 12 times. The Mitsubishi Eclipse was a series of compact sports cars introduced for the 1990 model year. The Eclipse was created during Mitsubishi&#39;s era of close collaboration with <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/chrysler/">Chrysler</a>, which sold captive import versions of the Eclipse as the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/plymouth/laser/">Plymouth Laser</a> or Dodge Talon. The Eclipse was offered as a convertible or liftback coupe during its production, and was fitted with a range of naturally aspirated or turbocharged inline four engines, as well as V6 options.
