The Mitsubishi FTO was a series of sports cars that was introduced for the 1995 model year. The FTO was offered in a two door coupe body style, and featured a front mounted engine that drove the front wheels. Originally, the FTO was intended to be exclusive to the Japanese market, but the worldwide popularity of the model lead to limited sales in markets such as the UK, Hong Kong, and New Zealand. Over the course of production, a range of variants were built, featuring inline four and V6 engine options. Notable variants included the GPX, GX Sports Package, and the GP Version R. By the time production of the Mitsubishi FTO ended in 2000, a total of 36,805 examples were built.
