The Nissan Frontier is a nameplate used by Nissan in several regions as an alternative to the Navara, NP300, Hardbody, Truck, and Pickup nameplates (among others). In North America, the nameplate replaced the D21 Nissan Hardbody, and was used from 1997 to 2004 under the D22 platform (the D22 would be continue to be known as the Hardbody, Truck, Pickup in other markets). The second generation of the model (D40) was available from 2005 to 2021, with a facelift occurring for the 2001 model year. The third-generation, but also the first dedicated Frontier model for the North American market, not shared with the global model, was unveiled for the 2022 model year under the D41 platform.
