The Datsun 280ZX was the model name in the US market for the Nissan S130. Resembling its predecessors' exteriors, the 1979 Z-Car sported a new chassis and a markedly luxurious interior. The 280ZX was powered by a 2.8 liter inline 6 capable of 135 hp to 145 hp depending on the model year. In 1980, it added an available T-top roof that was commonplace by the end of the year. The 280ZX was available in manual or automatic and in 2 seater or 2+2 configuration. In 1981 the 280ZX Turbo was introduced into the US market. The 280ZX was the first time the "by Nissan" subscript was badged alongside the Datsun logo. It was replaced by the Z31 Nissan 300ZX in 1984.
