Officine Meccaniche, more commonly referred to as OM, was an Italian automotive manufacturer that was founded in 1899. Originally starting operations as a railway manufacturer, the company entered the automotive marketplace in 1918. Many early OM models, such as the Tipo 469 as well as the legendary Tipo 665 were very successful in motor racing, including victories in Le Mans and the Mille Miglia. In 1925, the company began bus and truck production, eventually dropping standard automobile production in 1939 and focusing on commercial vehicles until all automotive operations ceased in 1975.
