Packard Eight - 1st Gen (1925 to 1927)

The first generation of Packard Eight was introduced for the 1925 model year. The Eight was the successor to the Packard Single Eight, and was offered on a choice of two wheelbase lengths. During this time, Packard organized their model lineup by series, with each series reflecting each evolution and wheelbase length of each model. An example from the first generation Eight would be the 1928 Packard Eight 443. The first '4' refers to the series (4th series), where the '43' represents the wheelbase length (143, shown as 43). The first iteration of the Eight was initially powered by a 5.9L inline eight engine, but starting for 1927, the engine was bored to 6.3L. Production of the first generation Eight lasted until 1927, when the model was split into the Packard Custom Eight and Packard Standard Eight. The Packard Eight name would appear again in 1933 for the Second Generation Packard Eight.
