Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6 (1984 to 1994)

In April 1984, Peugeot released the first variant of the 205 GTI, the 1.6. Powered by a 104bhp 1.6L inline four engine and tipping the scales at less than 900kg, it could shoot from 0-62mph in 8.7sec and had a top speed of 116mph. During 1986 the 1.6-litre version was upgraded with peak power now quoted at 115bhp. The 205 GTI 1.6L was also equipped with cloth seats, discs at the front and drum brakes at the back and 14" alloys. Built until 1994, the 205 GTI 1.6 saw a sibling introduced in 1986, the 205 GTI 1.9.
