The Pierce-Arrow Model 48 was a series of cars introduced in 1910. The Model 48, which was also known as the Series 48, was offered in a range of open and closed body styles, all of which were powered by an 8.6L inline six engine. Although rated at 48hp, this engine actually produced closer to 75hp, and sent power to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual transmission. Production of the Pierce-Arrow Model 48 lasted until 1918, when it was replaced by the Pierce-Arrow Model 51.
