The Pontiac Banshee was a line of concept cars from Pontiac. The XP-833 was designed by John DeLorean during his time at Pontiac. The concept car came about as Pontiac sought to compete with the Ford Mustang and other "pony" cars that were quickly becoming popular among American automakers. Underneath its fiberglass body sits an inline six-cylinder OHC engine. The car was constructed in 1964, and only one XP-833 coupe is known to exist. Other Banshees followed, such as the XP-851 and XP-798.
