REO Model M (1916 to 1918)

The Model M was introduced in 1916 by the REO Motor Car Company as a direct evolution of The Fifth and one of REO's last four cylinder automobiles. It was equipped with an inline four engine of around 3.7L, slightly more powerful and refined than that of its predecessor, coupled to a multi speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. It was offered in several body styles, primarily touring, roadster and sedan, aimed at a clientele seeking comfort and reliability in a mid size car. Notably, the REO Model M represented the technical culmination of REO's four cylinder models, marking the end of a key era in the brand's history before the introduction of its successful six cylinder models. The REO Model M was produced until 1918.
