The Rover 8 was the first vehicle model to be put into production by the Rover Corporation. Constructed in 1904, the automobile was a two-seater that included numerous new and creative technology, such as a frame designed in the shape of a "backbone" and a pedal that would increase engine braking. The vehicle had a single-cylinder, 8hp engine with rear-wheel drive, and a three-speed manual transmission. Production of the Rover 8 ceased in 1912, and the model was not produced again until 1919 through 1925 as part of a second generation.
