Following the break up of the Sunbeam-Talbot-Darracq group in 1936, which gave birth to Talbot-Lago and Sunbeam-Talbot, the Talbot 10 would be one of the first products from the new owners of Talbot, the Rootes group. The new Talbot 10 was based on the Hillman Aero Minx in an effort to sell smaller, cheaper cars. The 10 was available in two or four doors and convertible or fixed top. The car was powered by an inline four-cylinder engine making 35hp and was finally given a 12-volt electrical system to improve reliability. The Talbot 10 lasted until 1939.
