For the 2007 model year,&nbsp;Toyota Racing Development&nbsp;(TRD) produced 3,200 units of a&nbsp;limited production FJ Cruiser TRD Special Edition for the North American market. This model was released with the body painted in a black diamond pearl color, and with a matching black roof to set itself apart from the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/toyota/fj-cruiser/base-model/">base model</a>. The special edition model included TRD cat-back exhaust system, TRD&nbsp;Bilstein&nbsp;offroad tuned shocks, rock rails, among others.&nbsp; For model year 2008, the TRD Special Edition evolved into the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/toyota/fj-cruiser/trail-teams/">Trail Teams Special Edition</a>. Beginning with the 2008 model year, Toyota manufactured specially equipped <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/toyota/fj-cruiser/">FJ Cruisers</a> designated as the&nbsp;Trail Teams Special Edition, which featured many of the same Toyota Racing Development (TRD) options included on the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/toyota/fj-cruiser/trd-special-edition/">2007-only TRD Special Edition</a>. The&nbsp;Trail Teams Special Edition (TTE)&nbsp;was equipped with BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires, as well as TRD/Trail Teams Bilstein shocks, and other similar options found on the TRD model.
