Toyota Hilux - N50/60/70 - 4th Gen (1983 to 1989)

Toyota introduced a redesigned Hilux in 1983 for the 1984 model year (it was known as the 4th Gen Toyota Pickup in the USA). This fourth generation of the popular truck saw an expansion of space with the Xtracab feature and engine options. Toyota offered seven gas-powered engines, such as the 2.4L I4 (22R), the 2.4L I4 (22R-E), the 2.4L Turbo I4 (22R-TE & TEC), and the 3.0L V6 (3VZ-E), as well as several diesel engines like the 2.4L Turbodiesel I4 (2L-T). These trucks were available with a four or five-speed manual or a three or four-speed automatic transmissions. The popular 4x4 option was again offered, but this time was fitted with an updated independent front suspension. By the 1987 model year, the truck would see minor interior and exterior updates. The fourth generation Hilux was replaced by the 5th Gen Toyota Hilux in 1989.
