The Hyundai Motor Company, more commonly known as Hyundai, is a South Korean automotive manufacturer founded in 1967. In 1975, with the help of several seasoned European automotive dignitaries, Hyundai released the first South Korean-built car, the Pony, designed by Giorgio Giugiaro. Many vehicles are still produced in South Korea, but seven other countries have production facilities also. Notable models from these manufacturing hubs include the Tuscon, Elantra, Santa Fe, and Palisade. Hyundai's current vehicle lineup includes simple passenger cars, luxury sedans, SUVs, and electric vehicles. Currently, Hyundai also owns 33% of the KIA Corporation and all of the Genesis and Ioniq car companies. Hyundai sells cars across the globe in 193 countries.
