1941 Pontiac Restoration / Custom

Starting point was 1941 pre-WWII Pontiac Silver Streak (aka Torpedo Streamliner) 2 door from Colorado
Concept – restore body and interior to appear stock, convert engine and power train to early 1970s Firebird
Project began in April 2005 and completed in 2010 at a cost of ~$70,000
High Level Scope of Work and Features:
* Completely renovated body and interior starting at bare metal.
* Sandblasted body, fixed rust areas, and modified for wider rear tires. Epoxy primer used on body and frame was powder coated. Over 60 pieces of stainless trim were polished and re-assembled to body. Body paint color is Mercedes Jade green.
* Modify original frame to accommodate rebuilt 455 big block Pontiac engine, R704 automatic transmission, 9 inch Ford rear end, new front suspension, disk brakes, A/C. Front wheels are 16 x 7, rear wheels 16 x 10.
* Preserved original components including radiator, gas tank, rear springs, driveline, seat frames, rear window glass, interior fittings.
* Renovate interior with woodgrain ink stencil like original, reupholster original seats in Morroco leather, preserve original dash as much as possible. Original instrument cluster was rebuilt with Classic Instruments speedo that matches original and new gauges. Pioneer stereo is hidden by original speaker grill.
* New electrical system with LED rear / turn signal lights, light switches, fuse box and wiring harness.
* Known issues - hubcap attachments need a reliable fastening system.
