What’s special about this listing

Details

This British right-hand drive 1949 MG TC is powered by a 1.2L inline four-cylinder engine and backed by a four-speed manual transmission that sends all power to the rear wheels. The car is painted red with a beige canvas convertible top and matching beige leather upholstery. It is equipped with half-elliptical springs front and rear, wire-spoked wheels, drum brakes, removable side windows, and rear-hinged suicide doors. The car was initially purchased in Northern Ireland and later imported to the U.S. In 1975, the current owner purchased the car and brought it home to Yardley, Pennsylvania, where it is currently located.

The red exterior and beige leather interior of this MG present well in the third-party photos. The car is in good condition considering its age and has evidently been well cared for throughout its long history. The body does show some light scratching in multiple areas, and chips can be found on the fenders and doors. The left rear quarter shows a crack, which can be seen in the photos and third-party inspection of the car. The next owner will want to monitor the tread depth of the tires. The interior is in fine condition with supple leather. The inspector reports the car to be in proper working order, including the manual convertible top. Included in the sale are vintage plates, side windows, literature, owners documents, tools, parts, and an air pump.

This MG is being sold through a CLASSIC.COM Pro and is located in Yardley, Pennsylvania.

About the model

The MG TC is the original sports car, as far as North America is concerned. Mechanically and visually very similar to the pre-war TA and TB. The TC used the 1250cc XPAG pushrod four-cylinder, producing 54.5 horsepower. The TC was incredibly popular among US servicemen stationed in England, who saw a great contrast between these small cars and the massive cars sold in the US. The TC was only ever manufactured in right-hand drive.
