What’s special about this listing

This 1953 Buick Super Riviera 2-door hardtop is a true eye-catcher. Acquired by the current owner in 1978 from the original owner, it remains a stunning example of classic automotive design.

This Riviera arrived in Matador Red with a black top, the car was repainted in its factory colors shortly after its acquisition. The vibrant color, paired with the extensive chrome and stainless trim, make this car stand out. It’s whitewall tires (which will need replacing) are mounted on highly desirable Skylark wire wheels, often referred to as the "Crown Jewels". The wheels, including the spare, were sent to California in the late 1970s to be trued, tightened, balanced, and polished.

Under the hood, the car retains its original 322ci engine, the first year for Buick’s “Fireball” V8, also known as the Nailhead, paired with a Dynaflow automatic transmission.

The interior features a two-tone red and black vinyl design. The seats have minor wear including two small tears on the side of driver’s seat and a whip-stitch repair where the colors meet on the upper drivers seat. The front bench upholstery is believed to be original, while the rear seat has been reupholstered.

The brightwork inside and out is impressive, though some areas could benefit from a some TLC. The paint has a few chips and imperfections, as shown in the photo gallery. The car has no visible body rust, though light rust is present on the undercarriage, along with typical oil and grease accumulation.

The dashboard is in remarkable condition, with all original gauges, indicators, and analog clock. The 110 mph speedometer and odometer show 52,132 miles. The factory Wonderbar radio works and features a foot pedal for station changes. Additional accessories include a visor mirror, stainless accents on the fuel filler door. The car is sold with manufacturer literature and a collectible Buick 50th-anniversary keychain

This Buick offers tons of character, and a fun ride that draws attention wherever it goes
