What’s special about this listing

THE PONTIAC STAR CHIEF
This classic two-door hardtop coupe is a rolling piece of art on four wheels, repainted correct Redwood Copper with Patina Ivory, chrome-accented side spear, and Redwood hardtop. The car has exquisite chrome bumpers and an original grill in great condition. The two-tone interior is in exceptional condition with newer seat star patterned upholstery and a restored chrome dash showing 37807 miles, which is not the actual mileage as the car was completely restored with a rebuilt engine and transmission and not driven more than 500 miles since. With a stylish dash and crystal clear gauges, this particular Star Chief retains the original Pontiac radio, rebuilt by Mike Hagen and crack-free steering wheel. A factory-correct 389 cubic inch V8 engine sits under the hood and is nicely optioned with power steering and power brakes. Vintage Air Conditioning was also added. The undercarriage is solid and has new dual exhaust, mufflers and tail pipes. This American classic is rolling on original Pontiac steel wheels, Pontiac wheel cover, and wide white wall tires.

HISTORY OF THE PONTIAC STAR CHIEF
The 1958 Pontiac Star Chief was part of the second-generation Star Chief lineup produced by Pontiac from 1954 to 1958. The '58 Star Chief received a significant styling update compared to previous model years. It featured a more extravagant and flamboyant design with prominent chrome accents, quad headlamps, and a wider grille. The tail fins were prominent and swept-back, reflecting the design trends of the era. The standard engine was a 370 cubic inch (6.1-liter) V8, which produced approximately 230 horsepower. Optional engines included a 389 cubic inch (6.4-liter) V8 with various carburetor configurations, such as a 2-barrel or Tri-Power setup, offering higher horsepower ratings. The 1958 Pontiac Star Chief represents an era of bold styling and increased focus on luxury within the American automotive industry.
