1959 Volkswagen Type 2 23-Window Deluxe Samba

This 1959 Volkswagen Type 2 Sunroof Deluxe bus was acquired by the current owner in California 2016 and subsequently shipped to Germany for a refurbishment. The bodywork is finished in Sealing Wax Red and and Beige Grey leatherette, and the van is powered by a replacement 1.5-liter flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Features include 15? steel wheels with polished hubcaps, painted bumpers, front Safari windows, a retractable cloth sunroof, and a cabin heater. This Type 2 T1 was brought back to the US in December 2024 and is now offered on dealer consignment with the Volkswagen AutoMuseum Vehicle Identity Certificate, German service records, and a clean California title.

The bus was finished from the factory in Sealing Wax Red with a Beige Grey roof and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment in Germany. Exterior features include painted bumpers, front Safari windows, a retractable cloth sunroof, and dual side-view mirrors.

The two-tone 15? steel wheels wear polished trim rings, hubcaps, and Firestone tires measuring 185/70. Stopping power is provided by drum brakes at all four corners. The cab features a bench seat that is upholstered in gray vinyl with white piping. The right-side barn doors open to reveal a rear cabin that features two rows of bench seats, along with pop-out side windows and rear jail bars. The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a 70-mph speedometer and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 285 miles since completion of the refurbishment.
