Citroën ID19 – 1961 | Beautifully Preserved in Original Gris Typhon

In a world where restoration is often the norm, finding a truly original, unrestored automobile has become an exceptional rarity. This magnificent 1961 Citroën ID19 is one of those rare survivors — preserved with great care, untouched by renovation, and full of authentic character.

First registered on the 28th of February 1961, now 64 years old. The car was owned by a certain Mr. Herzog from Muttenz, Switzerland. The swiss registration is present and the car was taken out of traffic in 1992. A 1988 oil-change receipt is present showing 23.907 kilometers. In 1997 the car was imported into southern Germany by a Citroen collector and it has been in his collection ever since. This year we bought this ID19 from him, showing 25.938 kilometers.The car has a valid German HU (technical inspection) up til 2027. Now extensively detailed in our showroom with 25.917 kilometers.

Finished in its original factory colour AC 147 Gris Typhon, this ID19 displays a wonderfully understated elegance. This car is from the 1st series (1955 to 1962) of ID-DS that is very hard to find these days. This car wears it's original bodypanels and mostly it's original, thin paint. As the more mechanical and purist counterpart of the DS, the ID19 offered the same revolutionary hydropneumatic suspension, but with a fully mechanical clutch and gearbox. Inside, the beautiful 50's styling of the dashboard. Original materials, delicate instrumentation and the unique single-spoke steering wheel create a driving environment that is increasingly difficult to find in such untouched condition. The famous suspension still performs its quiet magic, gliding over the road with a level of comfort that remains remarkable even by modern standards. Original cloth, original carpets, original vinyl on the rockers, original dash. Amazing.
The engine runs beautiful, the transmission shifts easily and the car is very easy to drive.

This unrestored ID19 is far more than a classic car — it is a genuine time capsule from the pioneering years of Citroën. A rare opportunity for the connoisseur who values originality above perfection.
