Citroën ID19 (1956 to 1969)

The Citroën ID19 was a variant of the Citroën ID announced at the Paris Salon in 1956; developed to be a more economical version of the Citroën DS19. The ID 19 used the same body and mechanics as the Citroën DS 19 but had a simpler hydraulic system used for the suspension only, as the ID19 lacked hydraulic clutch and gear-change. Powered by the same 1.9 liter inline-four engine used in the DS19, this version was detuned offering just 66bhp without affecting its performance due to the simpler hydraulic system’s weight. An engine upgrade was offered in 1966 with a 2.0L inline-four. The interior was also simplified offering a painted metal dashboard with column gearchange and a conventional parking brake, plastic door handles, and door trims without armrests or plasticized matting. No full wheel covers were offered, and the car was equipped with a plexiglass rear window. The Citroën ID19 was offered in three different trims (Luxe, Normale and Comfort) and in a sedan or wagon bodystyle (named the ID Break). The Citroen ID19 was replaced for the 1969 model year by the Citroën DSpecial.
