1963 Mercedes-Benz 230SL

This 1963 Mercedes-Benz 230SL is said to have been imported to Saudi Arabia by a German embassy staff member before being purchased by the current owner approximately 43 years ago. It is one of the first 230SL's ever produced, as the number #156 based on the chassis plate. The vehicle was restored in 1991 and was subsequently imported to the US in 2010. It is finished in white over blue and gray upholstery and is powered by a 2.3-liter M127 inline-six with factory Bosch fuel injection paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a blue convertible top, 14″ steel wheels with painted hubcaps, and a heater. This W113 SL is now offered by the Verified Private Seller on behalf of the current owner with the factory hardtop, the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, and a clean Florida title in the current owner’s name.

Stopping power is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, and the brakes were serviced in preparation for the sale.

The cabin houses bucket seats that have been reupholstered in blue MB-tex with gray cloth centers. Interior appointments include an analog clock, a floor-mounted gear shifter, a push-button digital stereo, and a heater. There are cracks in the dashboard and the air conditioning is inoperative.

The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 220-km/h speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 93k kilometers (~58k miles).
