1963 Porsche 356 B Coupe

This 1963 Porsche 356B 1600S is a Karmann-bodied coupe that is finished in red over black vinyl. The car is powered by a numbers-matching 1.6L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, and features include chrome steel wheels with polished hubcaps as well as body-colored bumpers with overriders.

Originally finished in Ivory (6204), the car received a repaint in its current shade of red some time during previous ownership. Features include twin rear grilles, an antenna, a bullet-style left-side mirror, replacement beltline trim, and body-colored bumpers with polished overriders.

Chrome 15” steel wheels sourced from a Volkswagen model feature polished hubcaps with Porsche center crests, and replacement tires were installed in March 2022. At the same time the brake system was overhauled, which included resurfacing the front drums and replacing the shoes and wheel cylinders. The front and rear brake hoses were also replaced in March 2022, and the system was bled.

The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl along with gray square-weave carpets lined with 356B-branded floor mats. An aftermarket cassette radio has been added to the dashboard, though the seller notes that it is inoperative.

The three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a body-colored metal dashboard housing VDO instrumentation including a 6k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge for oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows just under 65k miles.

The 1.6-liter flat-four sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The engine and transaxle were removed in March 2022, and service at that time included adjusting the valves, modifying the carburetor linkage, replating components, and rerouting the fuel lines, along with resealing the drivetrain.
