What’s special about this listing

1965 Ford Mustang K-Code Convertible – 289 HiPo, 4-Speed Toploader, Numbers Matching, Prairie Bronze

The K-Code is where the Mustang story gets serious. Ford built the 289 High Performance V8 for one reason: to go fast. It's the same engine that powered the original Shelby GT350, and finding it in a convertible, numbers-matching, in a factory color as rare as Prairie Bronze Metallic is the kind of thing that makes collectors stop scrolling.
This is that car.

The car
Prairie Bronze Metallic over a black bucket seat interior. The body is laser-straight with excellent panel fit, restored chrome and stainless trim throughout, correct badging, and a new white power convertible top that operates as it should. Magnum 500 wheels complete the look. This is a Mustang that presents beautifully from every angle and holds up just as well up close.

Under the hood
The original K-Code 289ci HiPo V8 is in place, numbers-matching and verified as the factory-installed unit. The engine bay is correct throughout: HiPo air cleaner, exhaust manifolds, high-performance distributor. Backed by the original Toploader 4-speed manual, it drives the way an early Mustang should, mechanical, responsive, and rewarding. Tuned for reliability without losing any of the character that makes these cars special.

The interior
Black bucket seats, carefully restored to factory specification. The rare Rally-Pac gauge cluster is present, a factory option that added a tachometer and clock mounted on the steering column. All gauges, lights and switches are fully functional. Dash, carpets, door panels and trim have all been professionally restored or replaced to correct factory spec.

The rarity
Of the 13,214 K-Codes built for 1965, an extremely small number were convertibles. Fewer still survive in numbers-matching condition with desirable factory options and a documented, drivable restoration. This is a blue-chip Mustang by any measure.

Documentation and registration
Dutch registration is in place. Belgian or German registration is available on request.

A word to our American buyers
We're based in the Netherlands, and we want to be upfront about that, because we know what it means to wire money across the Atlantic for a car you haven't sat in yet. We sell several high-end American classics to the US every year, and our customers have always left happy. We've learned what American buyers need from us: honest condition descriptions, thorough photo and video documentation, and logistics that don't become your problem.
