1965 Mercedes-Benz 230SL

The car is finished in red over black upholstery and is powered by a 2.3-liter M127 inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a body-color hardtop, a black soft top, 14″ steel wheels with body-color hubcaps, power-assisted front disc brakes, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette player. Service performed in 2020 included a cooling system overhaul, a valve adjustment, an alignment, and replacement of the soft top, tie rods, tires, battery, and various seals.

Finished from the factory in Signal Red (568), the car was repainted in April 2003. Features include a body-color hardtop, a black soft top, a driver-side mirror, chrome bumpers with overriders, and twin exhaust outlets.

Body-color 14″ steel wheels wear polished trim rings and hubcaps with matching inserts, and they are mounted with 185-series Phoenix whitewall tires that were installed in January 2020. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, and additional service in 2020 included machining the rear brake drums, performing an alignment, and replacing the sway bar bushings and tie rods.

The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in black upholstery with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Wood trim accents the upper dashboard and center console, and additional features include hand-crank side windows, a heater, a VDO-Kienzle analog clock, a Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette player, and Sony speakers. The air conditioning system is non-functional, and wear is noted on the driver-side seat bottom.

A black two-spoke steering wheel exhibits cracking and fronts a body-color dash housing VDO instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer indicates 53k miles. The 2.3-liter M127 inline-six features Bosch mechanical fuel injection and was factory rated at 150 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. Service performed in 2020 by Rennsport Automotive of Bedford Hills, New York, included repairing the radiator and coolant reservoir, adjusting the valves, and replacing the valve cover gasket, front crankshaft seal, water pump, thermostat and housing, radiator cap, coolant and fuel hoses, tune-up components, and battery. Yearly maintenance has been performed at Porsche Beverly Hills since purchase in 2022.
