What’s special about this listing

We are pleased to offer on behalf of one of our clients this rare 1965 Porsche 356 SC Sunroof Coupe.

For many years, 2shores has been offering selected first grade examples of collectible automobiles. This very cool SC Sunroof Coupe is one of those offerings!

History:
The last revision of the 356 was the 356 C introduced for the 1964 model year. It featured disc brakes all around, radial Pirelli Cinturato tires, as well as an option for the most powerful pushrod engine Porsche had ever produced, the 95 hp “SC”. Production of the 356 peaked at 14,151 cars in 1964, the year that its successor, the new Porsche 911, was introduced to the US market. The company continued to sell the 356 C in North America through 1965 as demand for the model remained quite strong in the early days of the heavier and more expensive 911.

This car:
Our car on offer is a rare Sunroof SC Coupe from 1965. It sold new at Competition Motors in Culver City, CA to Mr. Vahe Keshishia on November 26, 1964.

It later was sold to a family in Portland, Oregon and then continued north to its third owner in Washington. Under that ownership, the car was completely restored, likely in the late 90’s. During this process, the owner opted to have the exterior color changed from light ivory to signal red. The car lived on the west coast all of its life and came to the current owner back to California in 2018.

The restoration of this beautiful SC Coupe is now over 25 years old and has held up remarkably well with a laser straight body showing only minimal imperfections. Door and panel fit is excellent and the bright work is very nice and straight with some age related patina. All original glass is still installed.

The trim and rubber is in good condition. A Carrera four cam look muffler skirt was added during the restoration and it fits the SC nicely.

While the restoration records are no longer with the car, it is clear by visual and mechanical inspection, that the work was executed to a very high standard back in the 90’s and still is highly presentable.

The numbers matching engine and transmission as well as the braking system and suspension appear to have been all rebuilt during the restoration and the car is a blast to drive with tight steering, great handling and very good road manners.

The interior was fully refurbished and presents very nice with all components working as designed except for the clock, which is not holding time.
The sunroof works smoothly with the electric switch and the headliner condition is good, likely still original.

The car comes with the correct Porsche plastic liner in the trunk, original jack, tools and date coded spare as well as a Certificate of Authenticity.

All mounted wheels are correct Lemmertz and date coded in the early 60’s. They may have been widened one inch and also come with correct hubcaps (some photos taken without).

The little 356 runs and drives extremely well and the 95hp pushrod engine has a good punch to it and sounds fantastic.

This is a rare opportunity to own a 356 SC Sunroof Coupe in fantastic driver condition. A car ready to be enjoyed, driven and shown at local events.
