What’s special about this listing
This is a Texas car that had been in the same family since the mid 70's. I bought this Mustang four years ago as a father/son project... then the son had a son. It sat in the garage and we ended up doing nothing to it.
Originally a V8 289, automatic with factory A/C, it now has a fully built small block, aluminum heads, electric water pump, MSD ignition, aluminum intake, Holly double pumper, headers, and a lot more. The previous owner claimed the car was on the dyno and posted 622 Torque, 576 HP, but I've been told that's unlikely. Runs and drives. Force 10 front disc brake conversion, but the brakes need some attention. American racing wheels with BFG tires that look old (there's no date code). The body is very straight with good panel gaps, and all trim is there and in great shape. The rear quarter panel was hit at one point, and the paint has cracked over a poor repair job. The interior is all original and in great shape for a 60-year-old car. A/C controls are there under the dash, but I have no compressor, belt pulley, etc. The underside is in fantastic shape with no rust/cancer at all.
Overall, this is a solid car that, with a little love, could be the classic you want. It can drive a short distance without much concern. But you'll probably want to trailer it due to the old tires.
