What’s special about this listing

Details

This 1967 Austin-Healey Sprite Mk IV epitomizes the British sports car era. A previous owner restored the car, and the restoration stands out with its vibrant blue paint over red upholstery. Fitted with Minilite-style wheels this British-Leyland-era roadster is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner.

Under the bonnet resides a 1.3L inline-four engine, backed by a four-speed manual transmission. The three-spoke steering wheel frames classic Smiths gauges and the forward mounted mirrors complete a classic look of the 1960s. An aftermarket single carburetor and manually operated choke give complete control to the driver and the car remains mostly stock.

This vehicle underwent a third-party inspection on 4/5/2024, to ensure buyer confidence. In addition the car has been photographed by a third party. The current owner purchased the car three years ago from a steward who had the car restored. Included in the sale are three sets of keys, an indoor car cover, and a tonneau cover.

This Austin-Healey is available in Maryland as a Premium Listing on CLASSIC.COM being sold by Parker Frazier.

About the model

The fourth and final generation of Austin-Healey Sprite, known as the Mk IV, was introduced in 1966 for the 1967 model year. Cosmetically, the change from a removable convertible top to a fixed folding top is the most notable update, while a new 1.3L inline-four engine was used. As the agreement between Austin (now owned by British Leyland) and Healey was coming to an end, the Mk IV Sprite received small updates to make the Sprite and its badge-engineered sibling, the MG Midget, easier and cheaper to build. After 1969, the Sprite was no longer available in the US, and production would wrap up in 1971. As the collaboration between Austin and Healey had ended, the last thousand examples built were badged as Austin Sprite.
