Up for sale is a 1968 Chrysler New Yorker 4-Door Hardtop, originally out of the Jefferson Assembly plant in Detroit. I have owned and maintained this car for over 10 years (2015–2025), mechanically rock-solid.

The car is located in Berkeley, CA, and is available for city or highway test drives.

Performance & Drivetrain

Under the hood is a beastly 440 Cubic Inch V8 (7.2L) pushing 350+ HP. It’s surprisingly quick for its size, hitting 0-60 in about 8 seconds.

• Engine: Edelbrock 4-barrel carb, Mopar TNT performance parts(OUTSIDE OF ENGINE), MSD Electronic Ignition, and TNT low-restriction exhaust manifolds.

• Transmission: Freshly rebuilt A-727 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic.

• Cooling: New 3-core radiator and FlowKooler high-flow water pump.

• Rear End: New Sure-Grip differential.

Handling & Safety

The chassis and under-hood components are effectively 100% new.

• Suspension: Complete front-end rebuild (control arms, bushings, ball joints) plus new heavy-duty leaf springs and KYB shocks.

• Brakes: Power front disc brakes (rare Budd 4-caliper setup) with a new booster and master cylinder.

• Tires: New Hankook tires, belts, and hoses.

Interior & Features

The interior has seen significant restoration work

• New: Black carpet, re-cushioned front vinyl seats, and weather stripping on all doors.

• Options: Ice-cold A/C, power windows (new switches), and a modern AM/FM CD player with 6x9s.

• Condition: 90% of all options/features work perfectly. No leaks, squeaks, or rattles while driving.

I have a collection of spares stored in my attic that go with the car:

Areas for Attention (The "Cons")

The car is a mechanical powerhouse, but needs some aesthetic finishing:

• Body: Needs paint and vinyl "C" pillar work (drivers side). There is some rust and minor dents typical of its age.

• Mechanical: The timing chain is getting loose and should be replaced soon (though it still runs/drives well).

• Minor: Tiny water leak in the trunk despite new seals; dashboard is cracked (but I am providing the replacement).
