This 1971 GTV comes to us from a long-time Alfisti here in the Northwest whose father purchased it back in 1982. The car’s history can be traced back to 1974 when it was owned by a Mr. Kochheiser of Des Moines, Iowa. The 2nd owner was a Mr. Woods who purchased the GTV in 1977 while living in Scottsdale, Arizona. Mr. Woods would move to Colorado in 1978 and then relocated to Spokane, Washington in 1980. In September of 1982, Mr. Woods advertised the GTV for sale in the NW Alfa Romeo club newsletter “Iniezione” with an indicated 58,000 original miles at the time for the asking price of $4000. Mr. Woods sent 6 polaroid photos of the car per the inquiry of a Dan Patjens of Tacoma, Washington in October of 1982. (these photos accompany the car today)! Mr. Patjens purchased the GTV shortly thereafter and kept the car until his passing in 2014. Mr. Patjens son would be the next caretaker to current. This GTV is in great original condition and has never been restored, just lovingly maintained as needed over the years. Much of the paint is original aside from the roof, trunk lid, and a few areas that have been touched up. There are some thin spots on body lines especially on the nose section but this gives the car an authentic patina and can easily just be left as is. The red paint still shines nicely and the stainless brightwork is in good condition. There is some light dents/damage to the front lower valance and rear valance above the exhaust which is not very noticeable when standing and looking at the car. A new front windshield, gasket, and chrome trim, has just been fitted. The oil and filter were also just changed. The engine fires easily and idles smoothly. There are no flat spots in acceleration and the transmission shifts well in all gears both up and down with no worn out synchros. All gauges function as well as lights, signals, horn, wipers, and fan blower motor. The interior is in great condition and largely original. The seats were redone in the 1980s prior to Mr. Patjens ownership and have very cool black/white “houdstooth” center inserts that looks very cool and retro. There is a Blaupunkt radio fitted with an accessory 8-track tape player mounted under the passenger side of the dash which is very “period optional” correct. Tires were last replaced in 2016 at 68k miles are correct Pirelli Cinturato including the spare and still have lots of tread depth and no signs of cracking or dry rot. Included with the car are extensive service-parts receipts, maintenance logbook, registrations showing the various ownership history, repair manuals, original owner’s manual, dealer directory, spare parts, selection of 8-track tapes, car cover, spare keys, jack, and spare wheel/tire.
The Alfa Romeo 105 series Giulia Coupe was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro himself while he worked for Bertone, the beautiful shape, extensive glass, and of course the classic “Scudetto” grill make this absolutely unmistakable as anything other than an Alfa Romeo. This stunning sports coupe was built in several different specifications throughout its production, all of which came equipped with the famous all aluminum, twin-cam 4-cylinder motor. These iconic cars were praised in their day for their excellent driving dynamics, gorgeous looks, and tight handling, which helped the Giulia win several European Touring Car Championships between 1966 and 1971. These Alfas had 5-speed gearboxes (when most cars had only 4-speeds), power assisted 4-wheel disk brakes were also standard, while the competition had only front disks if you were lucky. The motors rev with super bravado and sing a brilliant tune which will make you grin ear to ear.
