About this 1972 Jaguar E-Type 2+2

VIN: 1S7347

1972 Jaguar Coupe Project

This car was purchased over 40 years ago by the current owner's brother.

He was a car guy and had multiple cars.

What she can remember is he bought the car while living in Texas and may have driven it while living there.

At some point he pulled the car apart and had it painted in what appears to be Regency Red.

His job as an architect brought him from Texas to NYC and when he came north, he shipped the Jaguar and all the parts to his sister who lived/lives in VT.

It was tucked into a modern barn waiting for when he would return to finally finish the restoration.

His job took him all over the country and even overseas, eventually retiring in Seattle, WA. where he collected a few other classics.

Then a couple years ago, he passed away unexpectedly.

The other classics are gone but the Jaguar was still here in VT.

With probate all set and the car now officially in his sister's name, it's time to sell the car.

The good:

The bonnet is in very good condition. Overall the body is solid. There is rust appearing in the rear most lower quarter panels and a hole through the floor in the back seat area.

Many parts are still with the car and are quite restorable.

The front frame assembly is in very good condition.

It appears to have the correct engine.

It's an AC car and has most of those components.

Really good - it has new A-Arms and bushings in place and a still wrapped in paper Ansa exhaust.

The bad:

Not all of the parts are there.

The rear brakes are locked and there is no ignition key.

The data tag usually found under the bonnet is gone so one cannot confirm if it is a numbers matching car.

The ugly:

The only glass with the car are the rear side wings.

The engine is locked up and even after judicious application of penetrating oil, still doesn't turn.

Despite all that, this is still a Jaguar E-Type, one of the most beautiful cars in the world.

As a Series 3 FHC (which by then was automatically a 2+2) it is not a highly desirable edition and if paying someone to restore her, you'd be underwater right quick.

However, if you're the type who loves a challenging project like this, here is your car.

In essence, every part for these cars is available from online resources so what can't be restored can be sourced.

The other thing this car would be great for is the basis of a vintage race car.

Originality isn't a major factor, just build it as you see fit.

Lastly, it could be turned into a resto-mod like Motorcars Incorporated's creation, the Grrrowlr (look it up).

It truly is a blank canvas.

I can't say for sure what parts are or aren't here, but photos of EVERY part included in the sale are available for viewing.

While my whole mantra is to save these old, beautiful cars, some look at just the money aspect and parting this one out could be beneficial to one's pocket.

The bonnets alone in good condition can fetch anywhere from $5000-$10,000.

With all the above taken into consideration, the asking price is

Thank you for the interest!
