We are pleased to offer this beautifully restored 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 to market from its longtime current owner. As an Alfa Romeo it is one of the most sought-after models ever produced, the 115 series GTV. Designed by Bertone, the GTV has perfect proportions, beautiful at every angle, conveying a sense of motion even while standing still. The scenic greenhouse that encloses the stylish cabin is magnificent to look out of with delicate A and C pillars that allow the driver an almost unobstructed view to the natural world they are traveling through. 1974 was the final year for the 115 series coupe and the elegant body was not yet spoiled by DOT mandated big impact bumpers or overly restrictive emissions components. At the time the little Alfas had all the equipment one would expect of an exotic European automobile; aluminum twin cam engine, fuel injection, 5-speed gearbox, limited slip differential, power assisted 4-wheel disk brakes, sport bucket seats, full instrumentation, and a sporty exhaust note.
This GTV was completed in February of 1974. The current owner purchased the car while he was on a business trip in Phoenix AZ back in 1978. He saw the car at a used car dealer and since he had owned a 1967 GT Junior previously, he was familiar with the Italian coupes and it was an easy upgrade. The car would be used as a daily driver for about 5 years while he was living in Los Angeles, CA. The car was around for his marriage to his beautiful wife in 1986 and later after his son was born the car was put away and only used for pleasure outings. In 2007 the car received a partial restoration to the tune of $18,470 with a full glass out respray in Bianco (white) paint, all new interior, polishing of all brightwork, and an engine refresh was performed, all of the work was handled by the famed Santo’s Italian Car Service of Northridge CA. In early 2016 at 84,628 miles the GTV’s engine was removed and a rebuilt cylinder head was fitted along with new piston rings being installed by John’s Alfa Romance, an Alfa Romeo specially repair shop of Los Angeles, CA. The car was moved to WA later in 2016 and has lived on Vashon Island with the owner and his wife and only brought out on sunny days and shown at a few local car shows over the years. The car even won a "1st place Import" award at the 2023 Vashon Island Car Show. Today the odometer shows 88,312 miles which the current owner states is original. The car was just given a fresh oil service, new correct stainless wiper blades, new cooling fan + belt and a fresh detailing inside and out. Everything is in good working condition, including all lights, signals, wipers, horn, and heater fan. A new front windshield and seal have just been fitted as well. The owner says the clutch was replaced about a year ago by Vintage Customs of Tacoma, WA and the car shifts well both up/down in all gears without any worn synchros. The exhaust system is fairly new and the shocks have been replaced with Koni Red Classic. The stainless bumpers and chrome trim are free of any pitting or hazing. The interior is like new; door cars and headliner are perfect, dash top and wood are undamaged and free. All 5 tires were replaced with Falken 185/70/14 all-seasons in April of 2025 and wear late 2023 date codes.
To drive this GTV is a grand experience, the car starts right up, idles perfectly, and shifts like new when under way. The mechanical wizardry of the twin cam 4-cylinder combined with the very Italian growl of the exhaust will entice you to just keep driving this extraordinary motorcar, exploring as many two lane, back roads as you can find. Included with this GTV are 2 sets of keys, black carpet Alfa logo floor mats, red fitted indoor car cover, various awards, partial service records, and original jack.
