Hi there, how is your day going? I am sure you are kind of curious as to what I am doing here and what my story is. Well, if you have a couple of minutes, I'll tell you.
I am a 1974 Toyota FJ40 4x4 and a 3.9 Litre inline 6-cylinder engine (F model). My engine produces 125 HP with 209 ft. lbs of torque at 2000 rpm. I have a two-speed transfer case and manual hubs. Given the fact that I have spent most of my life on a farm, I only have 17000 miles, (yes, it was miles back then), on me.
I started out my life on Hop farm in Abbotsford, B.C. in 1974. Hard work and long hours was to be my lot in life for the foreseeable future. I could go on here, but in the interest of time, I will "cut to the chase" as they say. One day, many years later, and now very much showing my age, I was sold to a kind gentleman who could see that I still had a lot of life left in me and wanted to give me a good home.
My new owner had a body shop where I was taken and placed in a corner until he had time and had found a number of replacement parts for me. My life was about to change. I couldn't believe my luck! After all of those long and hard days on the farm, I was going to get a second chance to show my true potential. Over the next ten or so years, (I can't exactly remember), I was completely disassembled, cleaned, painted in Le Mans blue, and slowly and very carefully, reassembled using all new nuts and bolts. Some parts that were not able to be saved were replaced, but mostly, I am all original! Among other things, I got a new coat, new shoes and a whole new lease on life!
It had been a long time, and I was so looking forward to getting back on the road with my new owner! Sadly however, before he finished my "rebuild", he got very sick and passed away. It was a very sad time for both his family and me. I wasn't sure if I would be back on another farm, or bounced around on "off road" trails.
It was decided. I was then sent to a friend of the family who owns an exotic car business and put up for sale. Not knowing where I would end up next, I began to wonder what would become of me and my new life that was looking so promising.
Then one day, the salesman of the exotic car business got a call from a fellow here in Campbell River that had seen a picture of me in his showroom. He was quite interested in me and after a couple of more calls; I had once again been sold. The deal was done, I was on my way to Vancouver Island!
Once I arrived on the island, I briefly lived in the owner's showroom surrounded by other Toyotas to attract visitors to see my shiny new coat. Shortly after, the owner decided to take me to his beautiful home, where I get out for a run now and again, just to get a bit of exercise, but I am also living the life in a house surrounded by beautiful mountains, the ocean, and an owner who treats me better than himself! Ain't life great?
I have been here for years, and would hate to leave, but I am now ready for my next adventure, which is the purpose of my life. Got a nice home without a farm?
