What’s special about this listing

1977 Plymouth Volaré Premier – 61,2XX Original Miles | Rust-Free Survivor | Documented Ownership

Finding an unmodified, rust-free F-body Mopar has become increasingly difficult, making this 1977 Plymouth Volaré Premier a remarkably well-preserved survivor.

Powered by Chrysler's legendary 225 cubic-inch "Super Six" backed by an automatic transmission, this Volaré has traveled just over 61,200 original miles and has spent its life garage-kept. Unlike the overwhelming majority of Volarés that succumbed to corrosion decades ago, this example remains remarkably solid with no rust, making it a rare opportunity for collectors seeking an honest, highly original car.

I purchased the car directly from the original family a few months ago. Along with the vehicle came period photographs, documentation, and even a handwritten letter from the family detailing its history—items that help tell the story of a car that was clearly cherished throughout its life.

Mechanically, the car starts reliably and drives exactly as a well-preserved survivor should. Like many carbureted vehicles of this era, a true cold start (particularly when parked slightly uphill) might require a few seconds of cranking and a pump or two of the accelerator before firing. Once running, it idles smoothly, has never stalled on me, and drives exceptionally well. My mechanic inspected the starting system, and the starter and related components checked out without issue. Recent maintenance includes a fresh oil and filter change.

Nearly everything functions as it should, including the heater, air conditioning, wipers, charging system, original radio (the volume is a bit low), automatic dome light, passenger-side under-dash courtesy light, trunk light, turn signals, headlights, fog lights, hazards, and the factory-adjustable dash illumination.

Cosmetically, the car is beautiful and retains its original paint, which still shines with no sun damage. As expected for an honest survivor, there are a few minor imperfections, including a small dent on the driver's-side front fender and light stone scuffs behind the wheel openings from normal road use. They are subtle, do not detract from the car's overall presentation, and are accurately reflected in the photos. Overall, it remains an incredibly handsome and well-preserved example.

A detail that speaks to the level of care this car has received over the years is that it includes three complete original sets of keys—three ignition keys, three trunk keys, three gas cap keys, and three glove box keys—something seldom seen on a nearly 50-year-old vehicle.

This isn't a restored trailer queen—it's an honest, highly original survivor that has escaped the fate of nearly every other Volaré built. The legendary Slant Six is known for its durability and simplicity, making this a classic that can be confidently enjoyed on the road while remaining a highly collectible example.

Included with the sale are the original family documentation, historical photographs, a handwritten ownership note, and all three complete sets of keys.

Additional high-resolution photographs, cold-start video, driving video, and a complete walk-around video are available upon request.
