About this 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL

VIN: WDBBA48D06A052445

1986 Mercedes Benz 560 SL Roadster

This 560 SL was purchased new in 1986 from Wagner Motor Sales in Boylston, MA. The family who bought it had a home in Newport, RI and that is where it was kept until about 25 years ago, always garaged and always just a fair weather car. After several years, the original owner felt that the Mercedes Arctic White original paint wasn't "white" enough so he had the car re-painted in what he felt was a "brighter white".

Aside from that change, and of course regular wear n tear, maintenance items, everything else is original to the car.

The current owner bought the car for his Mom who enjoyed it for several years and then gave it to her children. They've driven it at least several times a year locally, not accumulating many miles, for the last 10 years or so, starting and moving it around regularly. They have put roughly 8-9000 miles on it in their 23 years of ownership, with total mileage now sitting at 116K.

The family has kept up regular maintenance on the car with regular oil changes and replacing items like fuel pump/filter/accumulator when needed. The first owner actually used the maintenance book and the tags have been pulled all the way up to 90,000 miles, so she's been very well cared for.

It definitely shows as the paint is in very good condition, shines brightly - very bright white - as with any car that has over 100K miles, there are some small chips in the paint here and there but not very noticeable and they could be touched up easily enough to make them even less so.

Turn the key and the 5.5L V8 rumbles instantly to life, while she doesn't sound like a muscle car, there is enough throatiness to remind you a 227 HP/287 TQ V8 is under the hood. Taking her down the road, the car accelerates easily, smoothly and powerfully. The 4 wheel power disc brakes stop the 3000 lb car securely and the power steering and sway bars F&R,keep the car firmly on the road, on the long straights and around the twisty back roads.

All the lights work, inside and out, the vacuum actuated power locks work as they should, power windows, power antenna, Alpine stereo, wipers, power mirror, fan, horn, etc. all work as they should. Unfortunately the AC does not blow cold and being originally R12, you will need someone locally who will do that for you under the table or it will need to be fit with an R134 upgrade. The owner never worried about it as the top was always down when they took her out. The dash has a replacement pad/cover in place and the seats show a little wear but no tears or major scuff sin the blue leather. The lower leading edge of the passenger seat has come loose from the frame. The leather trim along the boot cover has one very small cut. The blue fabric soft top is lowered by hand and tucks neatly into the hinged boot lid. It shows no tears or odd wear and the windows aren't yellowed. There is no hard top with this car, however, they are readily available on the internet if someone wanted to get one for this car.

Under the car, things are nearly as nice. There is a small oil leak somewhere that has over the years given the transmission a protective coating but the owner states that there is never anything more than a half dollar sized spot on the floor. There is no rust/rot anywhere on the chassis or body of this car.

The current owner had the original wheels chromed as he felt they popped with the bright white paint.

What is presented is an absolute turn key Mercedes Benz 560 SL from an era when everyone was drooling over the 107 Benz in Hart to Hart. Dallas, American and many other TV shows and movies. She runs, drives and looks great. These 107 series 560's are well know for going 200K miles or more and as a beautiful car to be driven on beautiful days, it'll be decades more before one hits those kind of miles.

The family is asking $19,500 for the 560 SL.

Any questions, for many more photos and video, to schedule a time to see her in person or to simply make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.
