In 1986, Porsche offered its customers the opportunity to purchase a car prepared by the factory for the Cup series directly from Porsche AG.

This 944 Turbo Cup was built in March 1986 and used by Porsche AG for testing and presentation purposes.

In 1987, the 944 Cup was driven by Swedish racing driver Steffan Kaiser and sold at the end of the 1987 season. The car remained in Sweden until its sale in the late 2000s and was used in club racing. The current owner has only rarely driven the 944 Cup on the track and has primarily used it for driving on public roads.

The car is fitted with the original Fuchs wheels, which were only available in the first year of the 944 Turbo Cup (1986).
