Will not answer is it available. I will obviously delete when sold.
No checks, sorry.
90%+ original 1986 Toyota 4Runner in factory Red with a Beige cloth interior.
The Good:
* 100% original factory red paint on the body. Never repainted, no hidden body filler.
* 2-Owner vehicle. 13 years in my possession.
* 22R-E 4-cylinder engine;5-speed manual transmission runs great
* 4WD worked exactly as it should the last time it was used.
* Mileage: approx. 166,571+ miles. Speedometer cable broke but I’ve barely driven it since so mileage is within 100 or so
* From what I can see the frame is solid with NO structural rust, limited surface rust as seen in pics.
* Recent Maintenance: interior door handle bezels replaced due to age, oil changes regularly. Approx 2000 miles on head gasket replacement (& other various associated repair parts- timing chain, etc)
The Flaws:
* Paint & Top:Body paint is fully original but shows age; hood has faded down to primer in areas from engine heat. Removable top is starting to fade and will need paint at some point, as fiberglass is showing through in areas.
* Body:Some rust on three out of four of the quarter panels. The spare tire carrier area under the back also has rusted-through (was rusted when I bought it 13 years ago). This vehicle had zero body rust when I first bought it and every spring I would sand, prime, and use touchup paint on any areas that looked like the paint was possibly bubbling, but life happened and I have not been able to take the same care of it for the past 8 or 9 years and it’s time to let it go to someone who can appreciate it for what it is and better care for it.
* Speedometer Cable Needs replaced. I previously had the old one repaired, but it keeps coming loose and slipping off. I just use the Speedometer app on my phone. But if you want the mileage to be accurate then the cable needs to be replaced. I literally haven’t driven the vehicle 200 or so miles in the past few years so I know that the mileage is pretty close to accurate.
* Exhaust: Very slight, minor exhaust leak audible from somewhere, despite minor exhaust work completed several years ago.
* Interior & Trim: Beige cloth seats have no stains and the carpet has a couple of very minor stains mostly in the bed and passenger floor. There is one area on the driver seat that I discovered when I took the seat covers off where it has torn at the seam, but could easily be sewn. The dash has one single crack that happened last summer, even though it was kept in a barn with a cover on it. The plastic side panels where the seatbelts mount have dry-rotted and are cracking off (replacements are available on eBay for around $110).
* Cosmetics: Minor dent on the tailgate and corner around the tail light and a cracked taillight from the original owner backing into a tree. Note: I have a brand new replacement taillight included with the sale, I just never replaced it. The trim around the removable top has minor cracks, but the top has never been off during my 13 years of ownership.
* Sunroof: the sunroof works as it should, only one of the original rubber pieces to hold on each end. The removable cover is still there. I’ve never needed another so I didn’t bother looking to see if they were available aftermarket. The trim/rubber gasket around the sunroof has not leaked to my knowledge, but I generally don’t drive it in the rain and keep it in the barn, but I would replace it if the vehicle will be out in the weather at all.
* Windows: Both electric side windows, and the tailgate window all work. I would suggest replacing the rubber gaskets, particularly on the two side windows as they are beginning to get stretched out and will come out of place when you put the windows down without holding your finger on them. Both of the pop out vent windows work perfectly fine.
* Tires: the tires have plenty of tread and show no signs of dry rot, but they have been on the vehicle for 7 or 8 years at least. They are not the original size. They are 31x10.50R15. I have had the front end checked multiple times, had a little bit of work done probably 5 or 6 years ago but I think the tires are potentially rubbing if you turn really tight because no spacers or anything were used. The tires were given to me, so I put them on at the time and basically haven’t driven the vehicle much since.
washer fluid reservoir needs replaced or plastic welded.
Perfect candidate for a light cosmetic restoration or to drive as-is. Multiple records from the first owner as well as some receipts for work since.
NO test rides without cash in hand or verified proof of funds. I’m happy to take serious buyers for a test ride, however since it is insured as a classic, I will not allow anyone to drive it. I have tried to include damaged areas in pics.
SOME PICS ARE AFTER WAX/SOME AFTER RAIN
MAY consider reasonable offer - will ignore lowballers.
