This is the 1987 Mercedes Benz 560 SL, one of the final and most powerful versions of the renowned R107 generation.
To understand this model properly, it helps to briefly return to the history of Mercedes Benz. The name SL stands for Sport Leicht, which translates to Sport Lightweight. The designation originated in the nineteen fifties with the legendary 300 SL, a car that was directly derived from the Mercedes racing machines of that era.

Those first SL models were technically very advanced. They already featured direct fuel injection and a lightweight tubular chassis. Yet it was ultimately the open roadsters that made the SL a true icon: sporty, elegant and at the same time comfortable.

In 1971 Mercedes Benz introduced the third generation SL, the R107. This model would remain in production for nearly twenty years and grew into one of the most successful and recognizable Mercedes roadsters ever built.

The R107 combined sporting character with a high level of luxury, something for which Mercedes was well known during that period. Features included cruise control, automatic climate control, beautiful wood trim and of course the smooth V8 engines.

Over the years that V8 engine was continually developed. It began with 4.5 liters, later increased to 5.0 liters and eventually in 1986 the 560 SL was introduced. With its 5.6 liter V8 it became the most powerful and most refined version of the entire R107 series.

The example presented here dates from 1987 and is in exceptionally beautiful condition. The car has covered fewer than 31,000 miles and that is evident throughout.
The paintwork, body panels and wheels are in outstanding condition. The interior also feels remarkably fresh. The leather, dashboard, steering wheel and carpets clearly show that this Mercedes has been treated with great care.

This is also noticeable when driving the car. The suspension feels firm and solid, exactly as an SL should drive when it has seen very little use.
The car is finished in Bronzebraun Metallic combined with anthracite black leather upholstery. A color combination that perfectly suits the character of this Mercedes: classic, elegant and timeless.

In addition, this car features European specification lighting, installed through an official Mercedes Benz dealer. It is supplied with the original booklets and a file containing maintenance invoices, including records from a Dutch Mercedes dealer dating back to 2016.

What you see here is therefore not just another R107. This is the ultimate evolution of the model, the 560 SL, presented in remarkably fresh and original condition. A Mercedes that still perfectly reflects what the brand stood for in the nineteen eighties: style, quality and an unmatched sense of comfort.
