My wife and I bought this 1987 Porsche 944S in August of 2024 from NC. A brief history of my attachment to 944’s; my dad purchased a 1987 944 as his daily for 15 years. I learned how to drive a manual on his 944, as did my brother. My dad sold his 944 in 2002 and I always hoped for the opportunity to relive these memories someday. That day came last year! My dad, brother and I now have new memories together with this upgraded 944S!
We drive the car every 2 weeks on ‘Sunday drives’ in the countryside and it is a highly enjoyable vehicle. We have done maintenance to the car under our ownership, however, my wife and I decided that this Porsche needed more maintenance and attention than we are able to give it right now.
This 1987 Porsche 944S was acquired by my wife and I on Bring-a-Trailer. We listed this car on Auction on Bring-A-Trailer in October of 2025. Please view that listing for additional videos of the car showing it driving and functioning.

Since we have owned this car, we have done the following maintenance items: all new Pirelli P6000 tires, new starter, oil change, parking brake adjustment, transaxle fluid flush, ignition switch replacement, new hatch pins, front turn signal lenses, and new battery. We have also acquired a Porsche Classic Technical Certificate from Hennessy Porsche in Roswell GA.
Under prior ownership from 2020-2024 the following maintenance was completed: complete new top end (valves, valve seats, cam chain and tensioner slippers), all seals and gaskets on motor, timing/balance belts and rollers, oil pressure sender, coolant sensor, knock sensors, motor mounts, crank reference sensor, cap/rotor, MAF boots, coolant hoses and reservoir, cleaned fuel injectors, new fuel filter, new Koni front struts, rear KYB shocks, control arm bushings, front sway bar bushings, power steering rack boots/bushings, power steering pump rebuild, new hose to reservoir, outer tie rod links, ball joint boots, torque tube bearings, pilot bearing, clutch master and cylinders, throwout bearing, flywheel bolts, rear parking brake shoes, AC refresh w/receiver drier and pressure switch, and under hood insulation.
The car was repainted with the original color under previous ownership. The Porsche decal under the taillights is missing after the repaint. The Porsche Classic Technical Certificate states that "the paintwork is in good condition and only shows some minor damage(s)".
The interior is black partial leather, with no tears in the seats. The leather 5-speed manual transmission shifter has no wear mark where your hand grips the knob. The dash has been recovered after it cracked. Trunk carpet liner is missing a snap and shows appropriate wear for 39 yrs old. Where the head liner meets the rear hatch, there is a gap between the liner and the roof. The key detection switch needs replacement. The power window switches are reversed. The blinker does not cancel. AC doesn't blow cold, but the blower works.
The title states 'mileage exceeds mechanical limits of odometer', however, in our ownership the odometer has worked perfectly. We were told by the previous owner that in the car's past it sat undriven for a while. When the new owner went to get his title in Maryland, he was unsure of the odometer status and selected this odometer status. We will still be driving the car periodically, so the mileage will be slightly higher than current.
The car has factory 15" cookie cutter wheels with (4) new Pirelli P6000 tires in June 2025. Spare tire is original from 1986.
The brakes are stock. Parking brake was serviced by Hennessy Porsche in May 2025, however, it still does not hold on inclines when the car is facing downhill.
