What’s special about this listing

Every so often, a special car comes along. Offered is a very original, well maintained, mechanically restored 1988 Town Car. The color scheme IS very attractive. On the road it attracts attention. Body: Silver Sand (light beige). Coach Roof: Dark Sandalwood (brown). ~ 68,800 miles. Has been in our family since new.

Ordered by y godparents in March of 1987, days after the official Town Car press release, One of the very first 1988 Lincolns built. It was manufactured on May 19, 1987 at the Wixom, Michigan Assy Plant, where only Lincolns, T-birds and Ford GTs were produced. I bought it from the estate in 2010.

It had 58,151 original miles then. It has 68,800 miles now. It is now used sparingly for club events. I’m 81 and am selling to pay medical bills. Come visit or schedule a video conference. You won’t be disappointed.

The body and interior leather are in fine condition. All rubber weather stripping feels as soft & supple as new. The paint and pin striping are all original. There’s no Bondo or hidden body work on the car. The paint is as smooth as new.

Virtually everything works but the clock, front cigarette lighter and the light under the hood. The car is as original except for a new, perfect fit, cell phone compatible, Kenwood radio, with USB port, improved speakers (beneath the original speaker covers), and an antique 1980’s, floor mounted Audiovox cell phone, that was installed soon after delivery.

The Buyer Will Receive a Bill of Sale transferring full and clear title. The Massachusetts title certificate dated August 13, 2010. The original Lincoln MSRP Window Sticker – Laminated. A copy of the original Ford certificate of origin dated May 19, 1987. A notarized affidavit regarding original vehicle mileage. Two sets of keys, plus two new trunk keys cut from NOS original Lincoln blanks, a full set of factory repair manuals, the original owner’s leather pouch and all original booklets that came with the car, and a fitted car cover.

I have owned and driven antique cars since 1968. Authenticity and quality are very important to me. Regardless of the care given, materials and cushioning parts will deteriorate. Buyers fail to consider this when acquiring a collector car, especially low mileage cars that have been idle for long periods. This car was restored to help avoid those issues.

Since acquiring this Lincoln, I have done everything I could to bring the mechanicals back to like new condition, not because the car needed it – but because I wanted to make the car feel as new as possible. Lincolns of this era always rode better than Cadillacs. This car is no exception. It rides like new as you would expect
