This is, in my opinion, one of the best specs on any 80 series LC. The 1HDT motor is amazing! Yes, the FT or FTE would be nice but with a brand new G Turbo, this truck can keep up in traffic. Triple E locked and a H55F 5 speed manual. It’s bullet proof and very easy to repair. I’ve put a lot of love into this truck and the stuff I haven’t done myself has been done by only two respectable LC mechanics. Yes, its a 35 year old truck but its well maintained, newly rebuilt motor and no rust. It’ll go for another 35 years! I’ve left it kind of right in the middle of off road capability and city drivable. I’ve done Engineer and Pearl Passes in CO in this truck, no problems. If you wanted to put 35’s, sliders and a winch you could probably do Rubicon. Not my thing, it gets you to the camp spots that are just little better than most. But also can parallel park downtown. The rear of the truck is an open canvas; with the seats folded up there’s a ton of useable space for HD runs, or if you want to build out a kitchen and storage unit, the floor is rust free and ready to go.

I purchased the truck in 2018 from Yota Imports (based in LA at that time). Duke was honest and did all the necessary maintenance on the truck. It’s obviously a Japanese import and I can’t speak to its history there. The fan clutch was removed when it got to the states and when I got it I upgraded the older electric fans to two new 3600 CFM. I’ve done Vail Pass in the summer with the AC on, its not gonna beat anything other than a semi up the pass but it won’t overheat and keeping EGT under 600 is easy. The Fan is the only out of ordinary mod. I still have the original Euro spec headlights, though the Depo’s are a worthwhile upgrade. Will also include many extra parts! Its got a passable stereo from the 90’s and I put new speakers in. I did the sun visors and the window motors. Sunroof works and doesn’t leak.

Only body damage is the left rear roof corner, it’s dented (slid into a tree branch in Utah) and the rhino rack is slightly bent. I could probably straighten the rack easily but it doesn’t affect the integrity. A couple of small rust spots on the rear window sill. The throw out bearing has a slight whine in it. Its a new clutch and I think when installed it wasn’t lubed right. It doesn’t really bother me but could easily be rectified if desired. Other than that the truck is all there, the e brake is a little soft, tried to rebuild it when I did the rear rotors but got the wrong size kit. I will try to source the right size kit and include it. Originally red, now black (def a cheap Paint job with a little trail rash) with awesome decals! They’re just faded enough to give this truck the perfect patina.

The motor is really the shinning star. I redid the bottom end bearings about two years ago and still wasn’t happy with the way the truck was running. Luckily being in central Texas, Endless Offroad Solutions is close to me and I waited for ages to get a full rebuild from Cody. If you’re not familiar, he’s the domestic mechanic for Juan at FJ Co. and has multiple 6 figure builds in his shop on any given day. Legit. Everything was done to the engine; machined the block, brand new cylinder head from Japan, new radiator, new pistons, new G turbo, rebuilt alternator. It runs like a dream, plus new AC! Still has the engine break in oil in it!

Happy to answer any and all questions. I have many more photos and videos too! I’m selling the truck because I purchased a Mercedes SWB 460 G wagon from Spain and I’m doing a 606 conversion, plus I’m ready for a smaller vehicle. It’s really a dream LC and needless to say, turns heads everywhere it goes. THX!
