What’s special about this listing

1998 Jaguar XK8 Convertible

This car was purchased roughly 5 years ago and is with the 4th owner of the car.

He bought it out of it's original Florida home as a fun, summer driver for him and his wife. However, in the 5 years he's owned it they've hardly taken it out, maybe 3-4 times a summer and have only added about 2500 miles of the 51,464 miles on the car.

The CarFax shows that the first two owners added just about 44,000 of those and kept it well serviced at their local Jaguar dealers. The 3rd owner owned it for 7 years and added about 5000 miles to the car.

The current owner hasn't done much except having the fluids changed at Cardone and Daughter classic car service center, which were just done again prior to sale, including installation of a new battery..

This is an XK8 which has Jaguar's (Ford) 4.0L naturally aspirated V8 that produces 290 HP and the same torque. It is enough to move this 2 ton cat to 60 MPH in under 7 seconds. Not supercar numbers but good enough for most. The XK8 is not considered a sports car but a grand touring car, meant to soak up the curves and bumps and flatten out the straight aways, just an easy cruiser. It is a Jaguar, so it has all the bells and whistles to make that drive even more comfy.

Beneath the LFA coded Titanium Metallic paint is a supple NED codes Ivory leather interior. he bucket seats are 8 way power and include air pillow lumbar support. Other power items include- the mirrors, the convertible top, the windows, 4 wheel disc brakes (also with ABS), the tilt and telescope. Intermittent wipers, cruise control, air bags, burlwood trim, Jaguar stereo (with boot mounted CD changer) Sport Mode, F&R fog lights and more, finish out the accessories.

Most of the interior is in awesome condition. The center arm rest (an infamous faulty flip out cup holder) shows the most wear and has a screw in it to keep that cup holder from popping open at will. All the gauges work, blinkers, fog lights, etc. work (one low beam projector beam is out), the top functions correctly.

The biggest issue this car has is the sun baked Titanium pearl. The clear coat has some crazing across the bonnet, left fender, left door and boot lid. The owner took the car to a paint shop and they told there was no way to fix it except with a $10,000 paint job. This can be corrected by a detail specialist who knows how to do a full color correction. Maybe a grand, give or take, and the gorgeous gunmetal paint would look awesome again.

The underside is rot free but does have some minor, typical suspension surface rust.

The car starts right up and idles smoothly, punch the gas and the exhaust does provide a nice burble. Out on the road the car accelerates as it should (it only has 50K miles on it), brakes straight and solid and handles just as Jaguar designed it to. The wheels are stock Jaguar and the tires are Continental ContiTrac (245/50/R17) purchased in 2022.

If you're looking for a fun car to get into, a great summer cruiser, with all the comforts of home (well almost) for little money, this is the one. Great, inexpensive way into the collector car world.
